The 2015 Savannah Rock and Roll Marathon

Jeff golfing in Hawaii

On Saturday, November 7th, 2015 Melissa Katon will be running the Savannah Rock & Roll Marathon in Jeff’s honor.

“Jeff never set a goal that he didn’t reach. What better way to honor my larger than life brother that by pushing my body to its limits to achieve my largest personal goal to date,” Melissa said. “I can’t think of any better motivation.”

The Jeff Katon Scholarship Foundation was created to celebrate Jeff’s life and provide annual scholarship opportunities to the youth of the Hilton Head Island community that he called home.

Since its inception in 2007, The Jeff Katon Scholarship Foundation has awarded $25,500 to graduating Beaufort County high school students to help them pay for college. Friends and family have continued to honor Jeff’s memory by selecting new scholarship recipients each spring who best exhibit his qualities of generosity and friendship.

Earlier this year the foundation awarded scholarships to two impressive young men: Wes Kerr and Marcel Smith. These two young men join their fellow scholarship recipients in honoring Jeff’s memory and love of life by continuing their education and giving back to the Hilton Head Island community that Jeff called home.

We are proud to support the academic careers of Lauren Stickles, Emily Natoli, Madison Howell, Jacob George, Justin Shaw, Britnee Kratochvil. Wes Kerr and Marcel Smith.

Please help us continue to honor Jeff’s memory by sponsoring Melissa’s 26.2 mile run and donating to the Jeff Katon Scholarship Foundation.

“I would like to thank Brendan MacDermott, Joe Gorman, Steve Michelson & Mike Jackson for hosting an amazing event in honor of my amazing brother Friday night at the Boston Winery. The planning and care that you all put into hosting Jeff’s event was clear from the start! It warms my heart to see people that Jeff valued so much take time to celebrate his life. Thank you for a night of special memories, great wine & fantastic friends! I know that Jeff was smiling down on all of us Friday night 😉

I can’t wait until next year’s event! Love you guys! xo

(A special thanks to Jennifer Howe MacDermott & Krista Carciero Gorman for all that you both did as well!)
